The City Clerk responds to open records requests. Submit a written and signed request. You can deliver it by mail, fax, or hand delivery. The office responds within three business days. Copy fees are ten cents per page or twenty cents for CDs.

For police or fire records, submit directly to those departments. The City Clerk does not maintain public safety records. Contact Covington Police or Fire Department directly.

Covington Open Records Request Process

Covington follows the Kentucky Open Records Act. You have the right to inspect public documents. Requests must be in writing and signed. Describe the records you seek with specificity.

Download the Open Records Request Form from the city website. Submit it to the City Clerk's Office. Include your name, address, and contact information. Commercial requests require additional certification.

The city responds within three business days. This is faster than the state requirement. They will provide copies or allow inspection. Fees follow the standard rates. You can pay by cash or check.

The Kenton County Clerk maintains records for all of Kenton County. Gabrielle Summe is the elected clerk. Her office has two locations. The Covington office serves northern Kenton County.

The clerk's office handles land records and marriage licenses. They also process voter registration and motor vehicles. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
